A brief history…
The studio was formed in 1969 and the Suburban-ettes in 1976, becoming a marching unit and competition team. As we grew and continued winning state and regional championships, 1985 brought us to nationals and world competition at Notre Dame University in Indiana. Based on our excellent placement, we were invited to travel to the former U.S.S.R. under a program established by former President Reagan. This invitation was a once in a lifetime opportunity. With hard work, fundraisers, and extremely dedicated students, in 1987 we traveled to Moscow and Leningrad; they will be in our memories forever. The team of 1987 started dreams and set goals for challenging our future baton twirlers.
More recently the Suburban-ettes travel closer to home performing in the following:
MA/NH Competitions, Westford Apple Blossom Parade, Chelmsford Memorial Day Parade, Chelmsford July 4th Parade and Common Performance, Lowell Festival of Lights Parade, New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Walt Disney World, Six Flags New England, Annual Recital
Some Awards include:
MA State Champions, Northeast Regional Champions, National Champions, Major Marjorie Gilbert Award, Linda Lanni Memorial Award for Outstanding Sportsmanship, and all individual soloist titles
